The proposed Rwampara Tea growing and processing project has a considerable impact on the lives of people in Mwizi, Bukanga, Bujaga and Ndija areas and surrounding areas in particular as both a source of direct and indirect income and Employment and as a direct source of Foreign exchange. |
Rwampara Tea project is expected to generate an annual income of US$2,500,000 by year 5 of the Investment. |
The Rwampara tea project, will be owned by the Government as the majority share holder and the farmers as outgrowers who will buy shares through selling green leaf from their gardens. |
Divine Dimensions Limited which is the consulting company is spear heading the implementation process and manage the process of processing and marketing of tea. |
The development of Rwampara Tea Factory is in line with Government drive to attract investment especially value addition in the agricultural sector and the acceleration of rural development, where large scale producers assist the small scale producers to gain access to highly competitive markets. The project is implemented in phases:- |
a. Mobilization, registration and setting up of nurseries for the tea plantlets in the community/household based which is spearheaded by Divine Dimensions Limited the consultants of the project with support of government programmes responsible for tea and district sub-county agencies for technical support. |
b. Emphasis is put on the latest clones planted which will ensure that the factory has enough green leaf to work on full capacity. |
Divine Dimensions Limited to ascertain the number of farmers to grow tea and the acreage available for growing tea in collaboration with government agencies, district and sub-county technical support. |
c. Construction and setting up of the factory under a holding company that shall be formed from the two entities so that the factory is finished by the end of the second year since there is nowhere else to sell the green leaf. |
